When This Fashion Blogger Got It Wrong

When This Fashion Blogger Got It Wrong | Style in a Small TownAs I was editing these pictures the other day, there was something about them that I didn’t like. I love the backdrop. I scouted it out specifically to go with this outfit. I love these culottes, they had been in my shopping cart for weeks before I actually bought them. And I how cute is this choker top? I’ve been anxiously searching for just the right thing to wear it with, but this, this just wasn’t it. This is the tale of how this fashion blogger got it wrong.

As fashion bloggers, there is a myth that we always get it right. That we always wear exactly the right thing or that our outfits always work. Well, this one is proof that we don’t, or at least I don’t!

Top: Wayf (similar, here and here – only $33!) // Culottes: Asos // Heels: Target – less than $30! // Earrings: Baublebar // Bag: Old Navy – only $25! // Sunnies: Ray-Ban // Ring: Baublebar // Watch: Daniel Wellington c/o

I’m so bummed this one didn’t work. I even tried this on together at home so that I would have the look ready for the shoot. But I went against my number one rule…. and that’s balance. If you’re wearing something oversized or flowy on top, you need to wear someting a little more form fitting on the bottom, and vice versa. This top just doesn’t work with these culottes because when it’s tucked in, it billows over the top, causing too much volume.

So tell me, what outfits have you tried that have been flops? We all learn from our mistakes, right?

As always, thanks for reading!

xoxo, Hillary
