Hey guys! I’m sad to say that this is our final post of the Friday Football series. If you missed the other two posts, you can see them here and here. This has been such a fun series because I bleed orange and blue. Actually, my whole family does and I didn’t realize how many other schools had orange as their school colors.
Orange can sometimes be a tricky color to wear. I know that I usually try to stay away from wearing orange and black together because it makes me feel too Halloween-ish and it was also my high school colors. (Fun fact: my high school mascot was the Pretzels! True story! Click the link, if you don’t believe me!) 😉 The other color combination that I try to stay away from is orange and green. I feel like I look like a carrot! Lol I know, I’m weird. But at least I own it!
Ok, so on to the outfit…
For this post I’m wearing this cozy blanket cape with distressed jeans, a basic white tee and these gorgeous faux suede OTK boots that I picked up this week. I actually wore this exact outfit a couple of weekends ago, to my birthday tailgate down at U of I (University of Illinois). Except I switched out my OTK boots for my new orange Hunter boots (a birthday present.) It had been raining pretty heavily the night before so it was muddy and then there’s the occasional beer spillage and food, ya know how it goes! 😉 Rubber boots were a great decision!
I have to talk really quick about my earrings. Remember this post? Well, of course, I had to get them in orange! These leather earrings are so incredibly light-weight but give the impression of wearing metal earrings.
Cape: Old Navy // Jeans: AE (old, almost identical) // Tee: Old Navy (not available online, option) // Belt: Target (old, similar) // Boots: Target (almost exact dupes of these, but $100 less!) // Leather earrings: Nickel & Suede c/o // Signature necklace: Julia Marie c/o (get 20% off using code SMALLTOWNSTYLE) // Bag: Old Navy (available in 3 colors!) // Fitbit band: Amazon // Ring: Baublebar
I have to chat quickly about these new boots I just picked up recently. Suede is a huge trend for fall and especially in the form of boots. I love this color because it can be worn with seriously every color, even black. And to say these are comfortable would be an understatement. They are an almost exact dupe of these, but $100 less! They come in black too. I get so excited when I find great deals like this, I just had to share with you!
There are two ways to wear a blanket cape. You can wear them closed with a belt like I did above and here. Or you can wear them open for a more relaxed look. Which way would you wear it?
Be sure to go and check out how all the other girls styled their orange!
I hope you all have a great weekend! One of my best friends from college is coming to visit and I can’t wait til she gets here!
As always, thanks for reading!
