Styled Two Ways: Valentine’s Best + Stave Wine Bar

styled two ways valentines bestHappy Friday! Kathrine and I are back this month with our Styled Two Ways take on our Valentine’s Day Best! We wanted to show you two different dress ideas for your big night out! Be it date night with your hubby, boyfriend or as my friends like to call it “man-friend” or a night out with your girls, who doesn’t love an excuse to get all dolled up!

I bought this dress a couple of months ago at H&M on a whim. I usually try to be strategic in my shopping and only purchase things that I know I’ll have somewhere to where it to or that I have multiple pieces in my closet to wear it with. But sometimes I come across something that I just have to have in my closet and I will find somewhere to wear it to! Enter, this red little number! As soon as I spotted the beautiful cherry red color and the lace I was a goner! I am already thinking of all the different ways that I can style this dress. I’m thinking a black and white striped or floral print circle skirt paired over it and worn as a top. A chunky turtleneck sweater and worn as a skirt or even a blazer belted at the waist and worn to the office. The possibilities are endless!

20150204-IMG_8340Kathrine also chose a lace dress in this beautiful wine color. We laugh every time we exchange photos, because we plan out our theme for the month and decide if we’re going to style a skirt or a dress but the color and detailing can vary. Sure enough, every time we wear something almost exactly the same! Great minds! 🙂 For more of her photos and outfit details stop by her adorable blog Kathrine Eldridge, trust me, you won’t be disappointed!

20150204-IMG_8304-2Unfortunately this dress is not available online, but you might try your local H&M or I’ve linked several other cute options for your Valentine’s Day ensemble.

We’re doing something a little different today on Style in a Small Town and going exploring, locally at least! It’s no secret that I love my wine! My friends and I have wine nights in and out all the time. To me, it’s the perfect way to wind down at the end of the day or to celebrate the weekend.

DSC_0008As much as I hate to admit it sometimes, I’m not a young and crazy 20-something looking for the hottest night club. I never thought I’d say this, but going out to a crowded bar where there are no seats in sight and you have to scream just to talk to each other just doesn’t sound like such a great time anymore.

DSC_0006That being said, I was ecstatic when I heard that we were going to be getting a wine bar in town! It was the perfect addition to our little “Uptown” area.

Stave Wine Bar & Market is the new hot spot in town! The owner, Greg, a former wine broker, ran a tasting room and also a wine bar in California for 10 years and now brings his expertise and love of wine to Normal, IL! The ambiance of Stave is warm and inviting from the amazing wood floors to the eclectic lighting fixtures. The menu features a large selection of wines along with a selection of cheese and charcuterie platters as well as some smaller appetizers. Not a wine drinker? No problem, they also have craft beers!

Don’t have time to sit down for a glass of wine? No problem, they also offer wines and cheeses for retail at the front of the store.
