Happy Friday! You may think that I should be wearing something green in today’s post, but sadly I did not plan that well this year. Truthfully I don’t own a lot of green unless you count my camo jacket and jeans (nooo, I do not wear them together and neither should you!), my cargo vest and a few other olive green pieces I have. I am excited though to tell you about this adorable pink leather mini skirt. I got this skirt for my birthday last year and have only worn it a few times, but that’s because it was too cold to wear without tights and on the days it wasn’t so cold, it wasn’t really appropriate to wear to work, being a mini skirt and all.

At first, I was a little hesitant, wondering if at 33 years old, I was too old to be wearing a mini skirt. But the key to wearing one is to cover up more on top. I was not trying to look like Pretty Woman here, well not in her hooker scenes, anyways, so I wore a loose, oversized sweater with it, as opposed to something smaller and tighter.
You see, it’s all about balance. If you’re wearing less on the bottom, you need to wear more on the top. And vice versa. If you were wearing a tight fitting crop top, you would want more volume on the bottom, such as a pair of wide leg pants or flare jeans. Make sense?
Another key aspect of this skirt that doesn’t make me look like I should be standing on a corner is the fact that the cut of the skirt is more a-line than just short and straight. The leather also nicely transitions from winter into spring and is a great color that pairs well with a lot of other colors.
For another styling idea, my blogger babe, Shelby styled a similar pink leather skirt earlier this week on her blog, but she wore hers with an olive green cargo jacket. I never would’ve thought to wear those two together, but it looks really cool and she pulls it off flawlessly!
Skirt: Chicwish (on sale $45, love this one too!) // Sweater: Glik’s (similar here, here and here) // Boots: Steve Madden (40% off and under $90, identical ones, also on sale, less than $70!) // Clutch: Etsy (identical to this one) // Watch: Michael Kors (on sale!) // Bracelets: Alex and Ani 1, 2, 3, 4 // Sunnies: Ray-Ban
So now that you have these tips, are you brave enough to wear a mini skirt? How would you wear it?
What’s everyone doing this weekend for St. Patty’s day? I’m hanging out with some friends at their house tonight. The bars are going to be crazy, especially since it’s March Madness too and let’s be honest, this girl is not as young as I used to be. Crowded bars and green beer spilling everywhere just doesn’t sound as appealing as it once did! Lol
Well, whatever you do I hope you have a great weekend!
As always, thanks for reading!
