Well, I finally did it! I got my Hunter boots and I’m SO happy with them! If you follow me on Instagram, you may remember a post a little while back asking for your help in deciding which pair to get? First of all, if you’re not following me (which you totally should, by the way! ;)) the choice was between the Hunter Military Red Original Glossy and the Hunter Navy Original “Tall” Matte.
I have to say, there was almost an exact tie, but I had to go with my heart and my heart said red, the second I put them on! Now I may change my mind later and wish that I had gotten the more neutral ones, #womansperogative but for now I’m going to bask in my love for my new boots!
I have been wanting a pair of Hunter boots for a couple of years now and I decided this year was going to be the one. Like all (most) OCD, Type A people, I set out to do my research. If you know me at all, it probably wouldn’t surprise you if I told you that I created a spreadsheet and made comparisons between style and color, but I didn’t go that far, this time. #totalnerd
In case you’re in the market for some for yourself, looking for your holiday shopping list or you’re curious about the different styles, allow me to share my research. I received a couple of suggestions on the different styles to get and one of my very helpful Instagram friends recommended I get the “packable”ones, otherwise known as the “Huntress”. She said that they were much lighter and that she had some friends complain that their Originals were heavy and hard to walk in.
Since I just recently recovered from being laid up almost all summer with a foot problem, I was pretty cautious about what to put on my feet. After trying them both on, I decided to go with the Originals because they didn’t seem too heavy or hard to walk in and I liked that they were a little more structured in the shaft of the boot. That’s not to say that the Huntresses were flopping over, but I didn’t like the style as well as the Originals.
Did you know that you can buy boot socks for these too? I am putting them on my Christmas list (Mom, take note!) If you know anyone who has these rain boots, boot socks would make for an excellent stocking stuffer!
In the Midwest, with our winters, I don’t think they will be warm enough even with the boot socks. But I’ll be able to wear them longer into winter at least and then will probably have to pull out a good ‘ole pair of snow boots, eventually.
Notice all the rain on the ground? I could tell you that I planned it this way for the post, but that would obviously be a lie. Lol A fashion blogger’s job is not as glamorous as it may seem. Rain or shine, wind or snow, we are out there taking pictures. This day just happened to be a little bit stormier than normal. It was pretty much monsooning outside and windier than hell! See below to get a better idea!
Cardigan: SheIn c/o // Sweater: Old Navy (old, similar) // Coat: Old Navy (old, similar) // Pants: Cynthia Rowley via TJMaxx (similar) // Boots: Hunter (mine are Military Red) // Necklaces: both from Target (similar) // Handbag: Michael Kors (similar)
Monday I shared with you a casual look for Thanksgiving dinner. Today’s look is a little more dressed up if you swap out the rain boots for a pair of riding boots in black or brown, which is actually how I wore this to work that day. Check back Friday for my last Thanksgiving dinner look.
Don’t forget about my giveaway on the blog! There’s still time to enter, it ends Friday, so get your entries in!
Also, really quickly, you may have noticed my Holidays tab in the menu bar at the top. I’ve linked a couple of gift guide shop links and all of the gift guides that I create on here can be accessed there too. Let me know in the comments if you have someone that’s hard to buy for and I’ll see what I can find for you!
As always, thank you for reading!
