This post is sponsored by Kohl’s. I received the included shapewear as compensation.
I’ve never been comfortable wearing tight fitting clothes. You can read more about that here. So when Kohl’s reached out to me about working with them and trying out their shapewear I saw it as a challenge and one that I wanted to take on.
Like you, I’m sure, I’ve always thought that shapewear was reserved for a fancy party, a wedding or special event. To be perfectly honest with you, I’ve never worn shapewear until recently. As a kid, I danced and had an excellent metabolism, so I was always really skinny. After I went to college I definitely gained that “freshman fifteen” (and then some!) #truestory Ever since then, my weight has fluctuated quite a bit due to some health issues.
As I get older, I have some parts of me that I would like to be smaller, leaner, more toned. But we all do, don’t we? That’s where shapewear can play a major role in helping you to feel more comfortable and more confident wearing dresses, day to night. It’s also not just reserved for special occasions.
I love this dress! With the Maidenform comfort camisole on underneath, my dress options are endless. Gray is a great neutral and can be worn with anything. All you have to do is throw a jean jacket or a denim vest over it, grab your favorite sneakers and you’re set to run errands, grab lunch with friends, whatever your day requires.
Then, if you’re out and about and have evening plans, just make sure to pack a knockout pair of heels, an evening bag and a fun pair of earrings. The fact that you’re wearing shapewear underneath, is your little secret and no one will know. But I’m sure they’ll notice the little pep in your step while you walk on in confidence!
Because this one is a little longer, this is a great dress for running around with the kids or going to the park. I love that you can wear this with the sleeve up on the shoulder for a more casual look. Or pull them down off the shoulder and the little ruffle makes this one a great date look. Because this is an off the shoulder dress, the Naomi & Nicole waist cincher targets your middle and helps to support your tummy and waist. I also love the idea of wearing a great leather jacket for those chilly nights.
These last two looks incorporate one of the shapewear pieces I mentioned earlier and one that I haven’t. Because the first dress is a little shorter, I wore the Bali ultra-control briefs so that I could have the same support as the waist cincher but I would also have my bum covered too. I was worried you’d see panty lines in the back, but I didn’t have that problem. The other nice thing about them is that they are moisture-wicking for those hot days we’re sure to have.
Even though this last dress is a little looser than the other 3, I wore the Naomi & Nicole waist cincher with this one too, for some added support for my waist and tummy. I could definitely tell a difference after I put it on.

I hope that this helps you see that you can be comfortable and confident wearing your dresses when you wear shapewear day to night! Please let me know if you have any questions in the comments!
As always, thanks for reading!
