On to today’s holiday style…we took these pictures awhile back when (obviously) it was a lot warmer out than it is right now. I don’t know how you guys on the East coast handled all that rain that you had earlier this fall. It only rained and was way overcast for about 2-3 days here and I was miserable. But I digress…

You may have noticed that I don’t wear a lot of dresses on the blog and to be honest, it’s because I have a really hard time finding dresses that are long enough and that are appropriate for work. Lucky for me, this dress doesn’t need to be work appropriate {insert monkey covering eyes emoji} because it will make a great cocktail dress for any upcoming holiday parties that I have this month.

Don’t have a holiday party to go to? No worries, this holiday style will definitely make for a hot date night or girl’s night out. Full disclosure though, I rarely (read: NEVER) wear dresses or rather anything this form fitting and it took me a little while to get comfortable wearing it. I usually prefer a great shift dress or a skirt/top combo that hides my curves and any imperfections that I’m not comfortable showing to the world. But I really wanted at least one form-fitting, I-feel-kinda-hot-in-this-dress dress, so when I came across it, it was the right price to do a little stepping out of the box.

Coat: Forever 21 (old, similar) // Dress: SheIn (runs a little small, size up) // Heels: Jessica Simpson (perfect nude heels!) // Clutch: Etsy (almost identical dupe for this) // Watch: Daniel Wellington // Bracelets: The Shopping Bag c/o (similar here and here)

So, tell me. Are there any styles that you’re a little uncomfortable wearing? Or maybe the thought of it, makes you want to run and jump into the closest pair of sweats? Don’t worry, I definitely thought about it a time or two when I first put this on. Do me a favor and break out of your comfort zone this holiday season. Take a chance on some holiday style you might not think you can wear, you may just surprise yourself!

As always, thank you for reading!

xoxo, Hillary

  • I love your dress, it is so pretty! I don’t know if I’d be brave enough to try one that is form fitting, they always never seem to look good on me, but now I want to go to the store and give it a try!

Love, love this dress! I’m not a lover of black cocktail dresses, so am always looking for something different, plus blue is my fav color. It looks great on you, BTW.

Thank you! I liked that this wasn’t a plain ‘ole black dress too!
