Fall Trends + Essentials

fall trends and essentials

Original Post

I know it’s hard to believe that fall is here because it’s been crazy hot around here lately. I’m talking like 80*, but it will eventually get chilly again. I have been preparing my closet for those cooler temps and thought I’d talk a little about fall trends and essentials for the season. There are several fun trends this fall that I’m pretty excited about, so I wanted to share them with you! I’ve included several options for the different trends and all at different price points.

Velvet

Velvet has never really been anything that I liked too much. It just reminded me of a bad Halloween costume. But I have to say, that it is starting to grow on me a bit and especially in some of the deep bold colors of fall.

Floral

The floral trend for fall is nothing new. It was also a trend last fall and the one before that. When you think of fall trends, think dark florals, on a black or navy background. Those dark hues really make the floral prints pop.

Chokers

Again, not a trend that I was really on board with. I actually hated chokers in the 90’s. But I’ve seen the lariat versions on some of my blogger friends and I kinda love how it looks with a v-neck top or an off-the-shoulder top.

Bell Sleeve

Talk about that 70’s vibe….flare jeans were reintroduced last season and are back for a second one. Along with his sister, the bell sleeve. The only thing I don’t like about this look is that I have to be extra careful reaching for more french onion dip at parties!

Off the Shoulder

You probably know by now that I love off the shoulder everything! There was this post and this post and this post oh and this. Well if you’re in the same boat as me, fear not my friend because these are going to be huge this fall, just a little longer sleeve. There are so many options, colors and styles.

Ruffles

I don’t know about you, when whenever I think of ruffles, I either think of the chips, or those cute little outfits for babies with the ruffles on the butt! Lol While ruffles do tend to be a little too girly for me, they are getting a little update this season in dark fall colors and unexpected styles.

So what trends are you excited about? Or totally staying away from? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Below I’ve also rounded up my favorite fall essentials!

And in case you missed it, I styled the best fall tunic on Friday and talked about getting out of rut. Check it out and let me know how do you get out of a rut?

As always, thank you for reading!
