As a blogger, I’m fortunate enough to get to test out products that I may not have the chance to or even know about. That being said, I’ve never been a product junkie. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Being the OCD, Type A person that I am, I hate clutter and I like everything to have their place. So any time I bought a new product, I threw out the old.
There have been a lot of products lately, both that were sent to me to review and ones that I purchased myself that I have been loving and even a few others that I’ve bought more than once, I’m talking to you, dry shampoo! So without further adieu, here are my current beauty favorites.

Neutrogena makeup remover: I have tried a lot of makeup removers over the years, but this one is hands down, my favorite. Like the label says, it’s oil-free so it doesn’t leave an oily residue behind.
Leave-in conditioner: Last summer on my girl’s Napa trip, a friend of mine told me about this leave-in conditioner. I don’t use any fancy or expensive shampoos and conditioners, in fact, I tend it switch it up quite often because I heard it’s good for your hair. But I’ve been using this leave-in ever since last summer and because my hair is naturally curly, it tends to get pretty frizzy after blow drying it, so using it after I get out of the shower has really helped calm down the frizziness. And a little bit goes a LONG way, this is the same bottle I bought last summer.
Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo: Speaking of shampoo, I don’t mean to be dramatic, but this dry shampoo has seriously changed my life! Let me first say that the one I use is for lighter tones, whereas there is one for darker tones if you’re a brunette. Since discovering this shampoo, I usually only have to wash my hair once/week!! #istillshowereveryday Like I said earlier, my hair is naturally curly, see this post for example, so if I’m feeling really lazy or I’m running late, which, let’s be honest, happens A LOT, I’ll just throw some mousse in it and run out the door. But if I actually take the time to dry and curl my hair, using this every morning until the next time I wash my hair has seriously done wonders for me. It’s also a lot healthier for your hair to not wash it everyday anyways. So if you don’t want to wait a week, at least you can go a few more days in between washes. It lasts pretty long too, I have been using it for a year and I’ve only had to buy a new one, once.
Tula Volume Defense Serum: Being in my 30’s I really have been trying to take a lot better care of my skin. Should I have been doing this all along, yes, but I figure it’s never too late to start, right!? I’ve only been using this serum for a few weeks, but I can already start to tell a difference in the appearance of wrinkles. Tula uses the power of probiotics in their products and since being diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, I know how effective probiotics can be. While this is a little bit on the pricier side, Tula has been so kind to offer Style in a Small Town readers with a 25% off discount code. Use HILLARYWINTER20 at checkout to get the discount and try it out for yourself or take a look at all of the other products they offer here.
Tarte Self Tanner: I used to tan in tanning beds a lot when I was younger. Then I got older and realized how bad it is for you, plus I have a family history of skin cancer, so no more tanning beds for me. Instead, a friend told me about this amazing self-tanner. You just squeeze the lotion on to the hand mitt that comes with it and rub in into your skin. I don’t think it has a smell to it and it dries really quickly. I use these on my face and they work so well. I’d say that the tan lasts for a few days. But it doesn’t look streaky or orange-y, because nobody wants that. I’ve bought both of these several times after running out.
Urban Decay Setting Spray: I had never used a setting spray until I was introduced to this. I first do all of my makeup, wait about 2 minutes for my mascara to dry and then spray this on my face in the form of an “X.” By the end of the day, I still have make-up on my face, it’s a great product and one that I find very necessary, if you’re going to be gone all day and need to look put together. This is another product that I’ve bought more than once.
IT Bye Bye Pores Primer: Another product that I didn’t think that I would need until I discovered it and now can’t live without. I have been blessed (cursed) with somewhat large pores. This primer not only makes those disappear, but it creates a nice, even canvas for you apply your makeup to. It also aides in your eyeliner and eye makeup from not running, a tip that I learned recently.
IT Confidence in a Cream/Compact: The last two products I’ll talk about together because they have the same qualities and benefits. I’ve been using Confidence in a Cream for over 6 months now and I seriously love it. It is so moisturizing and it’s great for any skin type. I tend to run a little oily to dry. So that’s why I love it because it’s moisturizing and it also has a serum in it to help with anti-aging as well. Because the Confidence in a Cream is such a popular product, they used all of the technology and created a full coverage compact. The compact also has SPF in it so it protects your face as well. I love both products and I know I will be getting more whenever they run out, which will probably be for a long time. A little definitely goes a long way.
Whew! That was a long one! If you’re still with me, thanks, and I hope that you enjoyed this post and maybe discovered some products you want to try for yourself. Let me know if you’d like to see more beauty posts. I’m definitely not a beauty guru, but I know what works and what I like so all I can give you is my personal experience and opinions.
I hope you all have a great weekend! My best friend from college is coming to visit tonight so I’m pumped to have some drinks, eat great food and get caught up!
As always, thanks for reading!
