You may recognize some of this outfit from a previous post. I had recently received this adorable baby blue coat in the mail and couldn’t wait to wear it. So we decided to take pictures of it that day too! You may have noticed lately that pastels have been huge this Winter and I was so excited to find such an adorable coat for such a great price. Unfortunately this coat is since sold out, but I’ve linked some similar ones below. Happy shopping!
Coat: Forever 21 (sold out, similar here and perfect for Spring, here) // Distressed denim: AE // Tunic: Mint Julep Boutique – gifted (sold out, similar, here, here) // Heels: Nordstrom // Scarf: Express (old, similar) // Monogram necklace: Baublebar // Bag: Steve Madden via TJMaxx (sold out, similar)
Because I was out of town last night at a Mardi Gras-themed birthday party (so fun by the way!) with my family I did not see the Oscars or the Red Carpet. I did, however, DVR both of them and plan to watch later, so don’t spoil it for me! That being said, I had to get a peek at the fashions and see which were my favorites. Are mine similar to yours? Which were your favorite?
Darks: Cate Blanchett is gorgeous in this black Maison Margiela by John Galliano dress with the pop of turquoise statement necklace and Jessica Chastain in this custom navy Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci is breathtaking. I love the little sparkle detail at the chest.
Yellows: When it comes to award gowns yellow is hands down one of my favorites. It’s not a color that you see very often and very few can pull it off. But that does not apply to Emma Stone who quite honestly would look amazing in a potato sack, but is stunning in this Ellie Saab sparkly gown. And Jennifer Hudson is killing it in this lemon number.
Blushes: The same can be said for blush gowns as well. It depends on your coloring if you can wear a blush gown or not. These three women, however, pull it off with ease! I would imagine that Gwyneth Paltrow’s rosette gown will either get a resounding YES! or a resounding NO! but in my book, it’s stunning and it fits her body beautifully. Kerry Washington looks very pretty in this strapless and dainty Miu Miu dress. And with a body like hers, Zoe Saldana is killing it in this Versace gown.
Beige: Somebody had to wear a princess gown or it wouldn’t be the Oscars! Leave it to J. Lo to fill those shoes with this Ellie Saab sparkly gown. And stepping out once again this award season from her typical black award show gowns, Jennifer Anniston is wearing this body hugging not-so-expected Versace sparkly number.
Say what you want about this silver and black Armani dress that Naomi Watts is wearing, but I think it’s very elegant and I love the unexpected detail in the back. It pushes the fashion boundaries just a little without being over the top.
Red: In every award show there has to be a red dress, in this case there were two! Rosamund Pike is stunning in this Givenchy lace silhouette. And Dakota Johnson steps out in this beautiful Saint Laurent gown with a sparkling embellishment on the shoulder. I love that she wore her hair up. It’s the perfect contrast to this simple, yet elegant ensemble.
I’m not usually a big green fan but there’s just something about this Atelier Versace gown that Scarlett Johannson wore.
I could not review these dresses without including this breathtaking Marchessa dress worn by Rita Ora. When I was scrolling through the dresses last night, it literally caught my breath. It looks as though she was sewn into it, though it fits every curve just beautifully. And the gold embellishments on it make this dress one to remember!
We finally made it, are you still with me? My favorite dress of the night….
Words can not describe how in love I am with this dress. From the see-through bodice to the firework-like embellishments on the skirt, this Yanina Couture gown is sexy and elegant at the same time. I love the color and the way that it fits her, in a word…perfect!
Whew, that’s it. It was a long one, I hope you were able to get through it all!
As always, thanks for reading!
